Unveiled Spatiality

handcrafted soapstone object, sculpture atelier, Zurich, 2023-2024

In exploring this soapstone, I wanted to uncover its potential to convey spatial concepts on a miniature scale. To transform the existing stone into a cylinder, we used smoothing and shaping tools such as files and sandpaper. After drilling to create a void, our main challenge was to shape the inner space while preserving the fragility of the outer layer and maintaining a uniform thickness throughout.
